San Francisco/Peninsula Branch

Jan 15th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

Via Zoom online

Members present: Vibha Akkaraju, Eva Barrows, Geri Spieler, Alisha Willis, David Harris, Tim Flood, Sue Barizon, Nirmy Kang, Margaret Nalbach, Miera Rao, Megan McDonald, and Kate Adams and Audrey Kalman (both briefly)

Minutes:
November meeting minutes couldn’t be voted on because no one remembered if they had been circulated yet. We will vote on November and January meeting minutes at the February retreat.
Action Item: Nirmy to send out November minutes; Vibha to send February.

Shut Up and Write:
Audrey Kalman is moving to Petaluma, but will continue to offer SU&W online on Wednesdays 9 am - 10:30 am. Lisa will start them up in person in February. Place and time TBD.

Lit Review:
The editors of Fault Zone will peruse the last few issues of Fault Zone to select 3 stories and 3 poems to submit to the Literary Review, the anthology being produced by the High Desert branch on behalf of the CWC.

Treasurer’s Report:
Tim suggested, and Alisha agreed, to call the monthly reports “Income and Expense Reports.” Vibha needed more help understanding them.
Action Item: Alisha will make one correction she noted and will explain to Vibha how to read these spreadsheets. 🙂

New Positions:
Welcome back Megan, our new Webmistress. Thank you!! Megan gave us a brief overview of her vision for the website. See addendum.
Margaret - Thanks for taking on the Membership Chair position! You got this!

Action Item: Tim to add Megan to the webmaster email account.

Membership:

Currently we have 129 members. Margaret wants to send out courtesy “miss you” notes to those who did not renew. She also suggested we offer Steven, the publisher of Fault Zone, a courtesy 1-year membership. The board agreed.
Action Item: David Harris to work with Margaret to craft the said note.

“Resources” Tab on our Website
Reena has been working on the Resources tab, and Megan is trying to fine tune some of its functionality (?). They will inform us when it is ready for prime time.

Holiday Party Review

89 people attended, and the party bill was only $390. Everyone agreed that it was a great party. Sue gave her pros and cons, the former greatly outweighing the latter. See addendum.
